Award-winning garden designer Alicia Savage creates considered, plant-led landscapes that connect people and nature — guided always by the principle of right plant, right place.
Alicia Savage is an award-winning garden designer based in Bristol, working across the South West, Cornwall and the wider UK. With a BA (Hons) in Garden Design from the University of Greenwich and over a decade of professional experience, Alicia brings a rare depth of horticultural knowledge and an artist's eye to every project.
Her career includes a period at Marian Boswall Landscape Architects, where she was lead planting designer on the Society of Garden Designers 2019 Grand Award-winning Reighton Wood restoration. She trained at the prestigious Great Dixter, and has worked with RHS Chelsea Flower Show gold medallist Sam Ovens in Cornwall and Karena Batstone in Bristol.

Each project begins with a conversation and a careful read of the site. From there, design unfolds in considered stages — survey, concept, masterplan, planting and implementation.
Every project begins with an on-site visit to explore the garden together, listen to your brief, and start to sketch out concept ideas. This is a relaxed, exploratory conversation — the moment when a garden's possibilities first take shape.
Accurate measurement is the foundation of good design. A detailed Leica laser-level survey captures levels, boundaries and the position of the house, giving every drawing that follows a faithful base to work from.
Concept design is where the garden begins to feel real. A footprint plan is paired with a series of detailed perspectives and sections that communicate the sense of space, the proposed levels and the materials and planting palette.
Once the design is signed off, detailed construction drawings are prepared so landscape contractors can quote with confidence. The recommended landscape contractor partner is Uri Peel of Peel Projects — a trusted specialist used across recent projects.
The planting plan is where horticulture and art meet. Trade-sourced plants are specified, supplied and implemented — and a recommendation for ongoing maintenance can be made so the garden continues to thrive in the years that follow.
Every garden is a quiet collaboration between site, season and the people who'll live in it. The work begins with listening — to a place, to a brief, to the rhythm of how a garden is actually used.
The guiding principle: every plant chosen for the conditions it will actually live in.
Designs that quietly invite pollinators, birds and biodiversity to take up residence.

Alicia turned our garden from a boring expanse of gravel into a beautifully textured and layered garden with a distinct and natural sense of drama — hiding parts of the garden so elements reveal themselves only as you travel through. Her intuitive understanding of shape and planting makes it feel far larger than it really is. It is the most wonderful garden and we are extremely grateful for all that she did.Linda & Bob CoburnA Seaside Garden, Cornwall
